It fails when coping the install image to the HDD right?  This is a DMA issue with some CD-ROM drives.  We had this same issue here with a machine a while back.  I can't remember the exact option you had to pass to the kernel and I can't remember we had to turn DMA on or off.  But it was DMA and the CDROM drive not working together properly.  Do a bugzilla hunt on bugzilla.redhat.com for the issue and you should find a solution.  Either that or someone here will know the right option to pass.
