I have heard RMS previously, and am unsure if I want to go see him again.. Im not sure if others follow my reasoning that he is a bit petty.. instead of trying to educate those inside a LUG what good things GNU has done.. He just refuses to talk to them unless they have a silly long name. My opinion is if he doesn't come he only alienates the students he could have educated. His loss.. _____ From: Bruce Kingsbury [mailto:zcat(a)zcat.geek.nz] Sent: Saturday, 19 July 2008 10:56 a.m. To: lindsay(a)wired.net.nz; Waikato Linux Users Group Subject: Re: [wlug] RMS visit. Who would turn up? 2008/7/19 Lindsay Druett <lindsay(a)wired.net.nz>: I've only seen three replies to the list, and quite frankly, they were encouraging replies which are more likely to motivate other members to attend the meeting rather than merely create noise. I've counted 8 people so far that said they would be coming, three of these were off-list. I'll see how many more there are, but it's starting to look like CS might be right; RMS is expecting an audience of >100. We're not going to get that. Perhaps instead we can organise a bus or carpool to see him speak in Auckland? Unless I see a whole lot more replies over the weekend anyway. =
