The Box has a 64 bit AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor with 8 Gig of Ram and a 250 Gig hard Drive. The internal modem uses a Conextant Chipset and the External modem is a USB D-Link DU-562M The OS is Fedora Core 5 bought from Dick Smith at the Base for 9c. When it boots it reports a segmentation fault 1294 "kdzu" but it seems to boot up o.k. into Gnome and run the games o.k.
I wouldn't recommend using an OS that's older than the computer. It's the workshop tomorrow - might be a good idea to take your computer along and try some other systems. As far as I can see, the USB modems are no different from the internal modems, ie they are HAM (host assisted modems) - just a different interface that's in use - and a pain in the nether regions for Linux.
