Also already in Ubuntu 17.04 but its version is dated 26 Dec 2016.

Whereas if you follow the install at...

...you will get the version dated 8 Sep 2017.

I don't seem to be able to find any mention of api's into this Ring application???

On the Skype main menu you can select: "skype" --> "options" --> "public api" --> "Allowed programs" and enter a program name to be authorised to access the api. There is also the python2 application Skype4Py, which allows you to write a python program to use this api. However Skype4Py hasn't been updated for over 4 years, and has not been ported for use with python3.

As Ring is open source, maybe the idea is that you download the source code, and write your own enhancements ��
