so, let me get this straight. the device is mounted ok, the file is on the harddrive, now i am simply telling the OS to fetch it and install it. and the "cdroaster 1.12" is the name regardless of what the file appears to be called in the file manager? i didn't try that name with chmod coz i thought i had a different version....
You will need to use the name that relates to the version you actually have. I still suspect there is any easier way of doing this than the approach you are taking, but I dont have the familiarity with Mandrake to offer assistance via email (or phone, or irc). I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to look at your machine last meeting - the committee meeting took a LOT longer than we expected. I don't think the location for the next meeting has been announced, but if it is going to be at Crawshaw School, then you are welcome to bring your machine along (turn up a bit early if you can, 7 ish) and we'll try to get things working there. Crawshaw has a 'net connection so we can download anything we need to (Radio Clubrooms dont, makes it hard for fixing machines in a lot of cases).
