Funny, I just rechecked the “top” listing on my system. I have never seen systemd show up with significant CPU or RAM usage there. For comparison, in a top RAM listing, Xorg uses 1.1%, with both kwin_x11 and mysqld at 0.7% of the 16GiB I have. Would any of these be described as “big fat daemons”? Because systemd’s usage is less than these.
