Hi Michelle, "It is an exceedingly safe way to do banking and probably emails." Absolutely no, it is not safe. William, Bryce, and myself have already outlined the reasons for this statement, and this bloke's badge alone doesn't qualify him in this regard. "I'm pretty sure puppy is more compatible than qubes." I don't actually know, except to say that Qubes is modern and maintained, and Puppy is far less-so. Please: seriously consider revisiting your fixation on these two edge-cases. You'll be happier and safer on a mainstream distribution. "So unless someone is willing to help in a hands on way, I don't want anymore help. Thanks anyway." It's a pity nobody was able to take the time to help out hands-on. Good luck. "So I found out Ian had another go at me today or yesterday [...] I would appreciate it if someone has a go at me if somone else would let me know so that I can decide whether to defend myself or not." I'm sorry to be frank, but you're being overly sensitive. Ian's comments were absolutely kind, truthful, and helpful -- and you would be well-served to consider them. I disagreed with his post last month, but in this case, no, he was not having a go at you. He was, however, disagreeing with you... and he is perfectly correct. Nevertheless, I wish you luck in your journey, and I hope you've benefited from some of the conversations around your emails. E -- Securely sent with Tutanota. Puppy was recommended by a police officer. I think he was doing banking for the police maybe? Because of the fact that it is so small a person can just run it off ram every time they use it. So it doesn't have to be loaded onto hard drive. Any mal stuff that may happen to it is erased with the shutting down of the computer. It is an exceedingly safe way to do banking and probably emails.
I am withdrawing my request for help.
In May and June I posted something like: " I don't know how this would work. Maybe someone is about to buy a computer and can try the distros there before they load there's on or maybe they have a spare partition where they can try them. Perhaps someone owns a computer shop or works in one or at a polytechnic or university where they have access to computers and could try it there."
In my latest request I was again asking for some hands on help: by loading live puppy onto a stick or also a DVD I think. I'm pretty sure puppy is more compatible than qubes.
I did get a guy from Auckland willing to help but when he found out I live in the Waikato it didn't work out. A guy from around here offered to help but that was about the time I was reminded of live versions of distros. A guy from pb tech was willing to try live qubes and I thought it would be easier for him to do it than the guy from the LUG, save him the work.
So unless someone is willing to help in a hands on way, I don't want anymore help. Thanks anyway.
So I found out Ian had another go at me today or yesterday, and mixed it up in his post about 32 bits and trimming. I only found out because I remembered an Ian from last month had a go at me in a thread about trimming and so I read the post. I would appreciate it if someone has a go at me if somone else would let me know so that I can decide whether to defend myself or not. Here's what he wrote: "A word for Michelle and the quest for perfection. Sometimes in this life there is a dichotomy between what we wish for and what we can actually accomplish. Maybe near enough is good enough"
And yes I consider being condescending having a go at someone.
