Anyone know how to get network profiles working in Mandrake? The whole system seems to be badly broken, but then again I may have set it up wrong.
What I want is to set up a home profile and a University profile on my laptop. Home needs a static ip and University needs dhcp. Actually home could use dhcp too but then if I boot when not connected to a network it takes forever to time out looking for the dhcp server.
I have tried to set this up using netdrake (or whatever it's called) but the ip address settings ie static/dhcp etc seem to be independent of the profile, so there isn't really any point to using it.
Any suggestions?

Set up as static; in /etc/rc.local, have a short script that pings your router/firewall, and if it can't reach it launch dhcpcd in the background.
