Interesting, since we've just been discussing this at PC Club too. qdvdauthor is really complicated though; for just putting a clip or two on a disk I've found devede works much better.
Devede works ok on the whole, but gets things really badly wrong sometimes. For example, one movie I mastered/burned had the soundtrack missing. Also, it doesn't let you name the titles. Unfortunately, DVD mastering is one of the few remaining areas where Linux continues to cling to its old geekocratic reputation. <tangent>/me heard some folks on #xfce describing Ubuntu as the 'Windows Vista of the Linux World'</tangent> There's definitely room for a nice gui-based DVD author prog which allows simple use, yet gives control as needed.
