There are various "kde-sdscreen" RPM's floating around to change the shutdown window image. All they do is replace "shutdownkonq.png". The RPM I downloaded would have put it here:
/usr/X11R6/share/apps/ksmserver/pics/shutdownkonq.png
but on Mandrake I found the little bastard here:
/usr/share/apps/ksmserver/pics/shutdownkonq.png
And I overwrote him with a 1x1 pixel transparent PNG. It worked!
Sorry about earlier attempts, I misread your question then went off in a wild tangent trying to solve the wrong problem :) Do you mind wiki'ing the answer somewhere? - -- I just had a NOSE JOB!! -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Only when you are sure they have you, can you stop being paranoid iD8DBQE/UW8PcAgRpy8z8UQRAgl3AJ9IUs4S5qPFheqaFm1Kw3Y6jHHckwCg3wjc Xz3U3clyDdTX1iONRU1hX5o= =PPNs -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
