G'day everyone! All (Microsoft) Free Outlook email accounts have a Groups Option. Worth checking out? (BTW: Microsoft-365 cost$ !). BTW: Can some kind person please explain to me Why the WLUG disbanded? Due to transport, & other difficulties, I did not attend meetings very often; but I was really disappointed when it shut down. 🙁 With the Window-10 / Windows-11 fiasco looming in less than a years time - ( Security Updates for Windows-10 ending in October 2025 ) - there will be MILLIONS of W10 machines -(World-wide) - headed for the dump, as 90% of them cannot handle W11. I see this as an ideal situation for the promotion of Linux: Installing / Teaching / Collaborating etc. Your thoughts? 'b'ye ! - Bruce “Noel” Gilbert. ________________________________ From: Lawrence D'Oliveiro <ldo(a)geek-central.gen.nz> Sent: Saturday, 9 November 2024 16:53 To: wlug(a)list.waikato.ac.nz <wlug(a)list.waikato.ac.nz> Subject: [wlug] Re: decommissioning of mailman server On Fri, 8 Nov 2024 09:28:57 +1300, Peter Reutemann wrote:
Any ideas where to go to? Google Groups*?
Just a note that Google Groups is gone, but USENET itself still remains. It was always a much less restrained/civil place (beware of political discussions springing up in unexpected places like weeds), and the traffic isn’t what it once was, but there are places where you can sign up for free, if you can figure out how to set up a client for retrieving and sending postings. _______________________________________________ wlug mailing list -- wlug(a)list.waikato.ac.nz | To unsubscribe send an email to wlug-leave(a)list.waikato.ac.nz Unsubscribe: https://list.waikato.ac.nz/postorius/lists/wlug.list.waikato.ac.nz
