DCOP is part of the KDE infrastructure if I recall correctly. Can you log in to a console as root? You could delete and re-add your user, which would save a reinstall.
If you boot off the install CD again, you can just install over the top of your existing linux install (As long as you are installing the same version you installed beforehand).
