fdisk l
You will see the disk there listed with no partition then you
can use cfdisk /dev/sda or what ever your Seagate drive is to create the
partition.

Subject: [wlug] Seagate USB External Hard Drive
Hello
Chaps
I
have a non responsive Seagate USB Hard Drive that I am trying to rescue. Under
windows, the error message appears that the drive does not have a valid
Partition Table.
I
have tried to get it to be recognized under Linux:
glenn@glenn:$
mount

type ext3 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
proc on /proc type
proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type

tmpfs on /dev/shm

/proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw)
tmpfs on
/lib/modules/2.6.12-9-386/volatile type tmpfs (rw,mode=0755)

Any tips as to how
I can mount the drive so I can reformat it with a NTFS file system?
Cheers
Glenn.
