Where do you stand? Microsoft ran a poll on the question, and it seems the majority favoured a single space.
Two spaces in a formal document, letter, novel. It helps with readability, even with proportional fonts. (It could be argued more so with proportional fonts, as the period no longer has as much space). Caveat - apparently I’m old and cantankerous... Cheers, Warren.
