You have every right to complain. I am going to make some observations in the next few lines that I hope no one takes as New Zealand bashing because it is not intended as such.
I moved here from Canada 2 months ago and am greatly disappointed in the level of service in the broadband market. The best account that I have found here so far (after much looking) is 2mbs with a 30G data transfer allowance for $90 per month. My account back home was 5mbs with a transfer allowance of 60G and it was $65(nz) per month.
[snip] yes, most of us are aware that the broadband in NZ does not compare to the broadband you can get in big countries/high density cities around the world. But if you were an isp in NZ, would you put up content for mirroring if it cost you money for international bandwidth? Having said that, there are several big mirrors in NZ at the main peering points, although obviously you can only get to them if your isp peers there. Try http://ape.fast.co.nz/ or http://wix.fast.co.nz/ - they seem to mirror a lot of stuff, although I don't see knoppix there. Maybe if enough knoppix users ask nicely they'll add images. John
