Check to see that DMA is enabled: /sbin/hdparm -d /dev/hda /dev/hda: using_dma = 0 (off) If dma is off (as above) you can enable it with /sbin/hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda I don't know where redhat stores this setting however, so I can't advise on the best way to have this set automatically for you. Daniel
