I got hold of an old computer, and managed to put Lucid on it.� At the time, it had an old CD-RW drive in it.� Now it&#39;s got a brand new DVD +/- RW drive, and Lucid can show me that it exists, but it can&#39;t mount any discs.� In XFCE, it shows the error &#39;Method &quot;Mount&quot; with signature &quot;ssas&quot; on interface &quot;org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume&quot; doesn&#39;t exist&#39;.<br>
<br>The problem is pretty much as described on this page: <a href="http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1509538">http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1509538</a>.<br><br>I would have installed Windows, but I didn&#39;t have any working Windows XP discs (or a valid key), and even installing Lucid was rather hit and miss.� I can&#39;t reinstall Lucid to see if that fixes the problem as I&#39;m not at home, and I didn&#39;t bring my Lucid disc (or if I did, it&#39;s corrupt).<br>
<br>If anyone has idea of how to fix this problem (the computer&#39;s for my parents, aren&#39;t they&#39;re not exactly computer savvy, even with Windows XP), I would very much appreciate a solution.� If worst comes to worst, would a complete reinstall work (even if I have to download the ISO again, although I&#39;m not sure I have access to a spare CD).�� I have until Saturday, which is when I have to go home.<br>
