Ok, so perhaps you should start with a more "mainstream" distro and learn from there.
Right, I have started the downloads for both debian and fedora on bittorrent... I guess we can continue this tomorrow :)
www.howtoforge.com might give you some good pointers too :)
I will have a read tonight.
Macronix and 3Com usually have very good support. IIRC macronix is a tulip or ne2000 clone, could be mistaken though. However, I would expect these to work.
Yes, the research I have done on the net suggests I should have no problem with them, so I am stumped. There may be some obscure setting in the BIOS I am missing, but I really don't know what to look for.
I am not sure what you mean by "lights flash in an unusual way", are you assigning them an IP ?
Yes, I have done when the cards are detected. The lights don't behave as one would expect, flickering on and off, but rather stay on, and seem to "dim" momentarily and frequently.
I assume you are setting this up in a private network whilst you learn?
Yes, and as I mentioned before, I got my Intel based machine going very easily, so I am sure the gear I am using is good and my config is correct. Cheers, Sidd.
