I thought they had already done this (and not told us)... Let's put it this way, there's an external customer of ours that used alien.xtra.co.nz (202.27.184.3) and terminator.xtra.co.nz (202.27.184.5) as well as somebody elses DNS, anyway that somebody elses DNS server was down for a day (due to an upstream network outage) and basically this customer ground to a halt because they couldn't resolve domain names. Oh the wonderful scenario of de-peering... Thankyou Mr. TelstraClear, thankyou Mr. Telecom.... I would also be inclined to predict that other big players will be doing the same thing.
