I have a very good signal according to NetworkManager. The single is almost always at 100% and the AP is only about 10 feet away. I'd be pretty disappointed if the single strength was the problem. As for using a toilet roll covered in tinfoil as an antenna. Well I've heard other suitably off the wall suggestions. Supposedly putting a CD-ROM at the base of the antenna can help, so can using a Pringles can. Never tried any of this stuff myself. Supposedly useful for War-Driving. Google is your friend. Regarding metal objects that may impede the signal: I thought of wrapping an empty toilet roll (or similar) with aluminium foil then adjusting the size to act as a collector/reflector and maybe getting some signal gain if placed in a strategic location. As this been tested or did I have a bad idea??
