Hello all, I have recently upgraded to a larger HDD and I decided to install (Ubuntu) from scratch. This required all the updates and installation of all the additional packaged that I use. The problem is that I only have dialup Internet access and it took some time to download. I also have a requirement to update 2 non-networked PCs. I am using Ubuntu with Synaptic Package Manager, which works well, but I am not sure how it works 'behind the scenes'. The idea I have is to create a specialised repository that contains specific apps (or updates), which can be placed onto mobile media for installtion onto the non-networked PCs (as well as a being a backup). Can anyone out there shed some light on how to create such a repository or any other possibilities for installing packages onto the non-networked PCs? Some topics I love more info on are: * Where do packages stored when downloaded and how long do they remain there? * What is required for creating a repository? * How do configure Synaptic to access this new repository?
