Well... To put in my 10c worth, I know for a fact that two of those people at InternetNZ know what they are talking about...
It should also be remembered that Wgtn Council has had experience with laying and maintaining a broadband network when Citynet was first started. I imagine that they would use that company to the work since it is already developing and maintaining a fibre network around Wgtn.
And they have been laying and maintaining in Auckland... Then there's Vector laying in areas that CityLink aren't laying in Auckland and Wellington...
And of course there is "The Loop" http://www.nzine.co.nz/features/nelsonloop.html.
And Counties Power laying in Pukekohe of all places... And there's Velocity Networks (Liteup)... And the list goes on.
If this group of schools and companies can do it, why can't a council also do it in a similar manner?
