I've been using one of the release candidates for Thunderbird for quite a while now.  It is good.

I think you mean Thunderbird 2 is released today. Firebird is the name
of an RDBMS database, and the former name of Firefox.

Pity the version that is going to be released in Ubunutu 7.04 (which
also is going to be released today) is version 1.5.0. Will be another
six months until most people will be using version 2.0 :-)
