We run 64Mb (using ~16 - 20mb of it atm)
If you want to see minimal linux installs, ask any soekris biscuit board owner about theirs..
We run a very minimal install, but, what software we do run is very close to the latest version. I agree with Drew on this, you can still run the latest versions of many services and applications even on machines as minimal as these, you just pick appropriate things to do on a machine this small.
