An entity named Rothschild Patent Imaging (RPI) is claiming that the GNOME Shotwell app is infringing a patent it holds <https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/10/22/gnome_linux_lausuit/>. The GNOME Foundation is not settling, instead it is fighting back to try to get the patent invalidated and RPI to pay its legal fees.
The GNOME foundation set up a fund for this legal battle: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/gnome-foundation-inc/gnome-patent-troll... This link was lifted from this GNOME foundation blog entry: https://www.gnome.org/news/2019/10/gnome-files-defense-against-patent-troll/ Cheers, Peter -- Peter Reutemann Dept. of Computer Science University of Waikato, NZ +64 (7) 858-5174 http://www.cms.waikato.ac.nz/~fracpete/ http://www.data-mining.co.nz/
