According to the Google Toolbar we have a page rank of 5/10, which I think is about what we used to get? On a lark, I googled for my name (which I knew normally returned the Wiki as hit #1/#2) - not listed, but the pages that were listed there had '0 pagerank'/Google hadn't ranked them. My wiki page has a pagerank of 4. So the wiki has a good reading still, but it's just not being listed. I'd suggest emailling Google, but we really aren't trying to sell anything on the wiki and don't want to be seen like we're begging for a high listing. It is possible, yet perhaps unlikely, that the fact Waikato Linux Users Group in dmoz (Google Directory) points to wlug.linuxcare.co.nz and that address doesn't point anywhere, has something to do with it? Does anyone still have this domain and if so would they mind pointing wlug.linuxcare -> www.wlug.org.nz? -----Original Message----- From: John R. Is it just me or have we fallen off Googles radar? I've tried a few searches including (without the quotes - they just show what i searched
Totally gone. Very disturbing!!
It's not totally gone. http://www.google.co.nz/search?q=waikato+linux+users+group+site:org.nz shows us in the results, although below everyone else. Therefore, we must have a much lower page rank than everyone else. My guess is that having a link to another website with the words "sheep porn" in it could be what is doing it, although how google calculate pagerank is a trade secret. Alternatively, it could just be that time of the month that google is recalculating page ranks and it's a temporary glitch in the matr^w system, but that seems less likely.
