Firstly, "This is a document about how to set up XEN and iSCSI on 3 Debian Stable machines so that you can have a virtual host that can be migrated live between 2 of the machines. The third machine will be the common disk for the virtual machine that is seen via the 2 machines running XEN." Secondly, "IBM and Novell are throwing their considerable weight behind Xen, but some experts are suggesting that these companies may be pushing this nascent technology too far too fast." Lastly, "You can now run OpenSolaris domains under Xen as dom0 with OpenSolaris domUs too." Thinking about it My command was probably trying to execute the file rather than open it and root did not have permission to execute it. I will look at the book I have at work to look into that next week. Then I can change the permission back again! Command line help for new users

Hello all, I stumbled across this excellent resource for new users while searching for the answer to another problem. It is possible that we have this info in our Wiki but I did not find it yet. Skype working better for Linux

Folks, I'm meant to be making a Skype call at 5 am tomorrow (yeah!!) to talk about Linux but I have had bad experiences with Skype previously with sound working (or more to the point not!) and preferred not to use Windows in case I need to look something up that I'm talking about. Anyway I've now found that Skype for Linux has a new beta out which now uses ALSA by default as the sound system instead of OSS. What this means is that sound seems to "just work" now for me. Nothing there! Bnonn. I ran your script but it just looked for repositories, Not found of course as we have no Internet connection. Have not been able to network Breezy with Dapper or SUSE 10.1 yet. Can ping them both ways but cant get Internet connection through them to patch Yast yet. Regards David

I am an application packager by trade (MS environment) and the latest version of Wise Package Studio (http://www.wise.com/Products/Packaging/Overview.aspx) supports creation and editing of RPM files. The beauty of this tool is how simple it is to create and deploy consistent applications to large enterprises (we package the application to work consistently on 2k/xp/vista/citrix). I know it is doing nothing that couldn't already be done via a command line packaging tool but a lot of companies have already invested massive amounts of money in Wise infrastructure with delegated rights, deployment systems and reporting and would love to be able to apply those processes to their Linux systems. So now with Wise and Notes I can build 2 (MS/RPM) packages following the same configuration and testing steps and have every user running the same application and configuration while my manager can manager the teams workflows and productivity via the reporting functions. I know most of you will not see it this way, but this is a massive leap forward for Linux in the Standard Operating Environments that I help design and deploy.
