I have thuderbird and Evolution Installed on Ubuntu 6.10 and am able
to
receive mail but am unable to send inspite of giving them the correct
password. When I type it in it just re asks me for the password. I
wondered if it was a bug that the two programs had in common as I am
able
to send Email with Opera in Ubuntu 6.10. This problem seemed to come
after
I had upgraded from the upgrade icon a few days ago.

Read their home page status report. (Ihug) They have had problems due to
a large quantity of spam being received. You have to chane some setting
in the E-mail client. Below is their instructions for Thunderbird,
Evolution was similar
Thunderbird:
Go to “Tools” --> “Account Settings”, click on the "Outgoing server
(SMTP)" field. Depending on your version you will either then un-tick
“Use name and password” or click edit then un-tick “Use name and
password”.
Then “OK” out of those screens.
