Reminder AGM in September

Folks, According to the constitution we are required to make periodic notices advising of the AGM. So consider this another periodic notice as per our constitution. Our AGM will be at the regular slot in September and we won't have a formal speaker but I'm sure we can discuss ideas if we have time - just like when we had a speaker mishap last time. Remember - we're always keen to get people involved on the committee. I'll be stepping down and so will some (but not all of the others). It's not a huge workload and feel free to discuss it with any existing committee member. We will vote for committee members and my aim is that we will just have a simple first past the post vote now we don't have Craig to run the STV system. WLUG Fixit Meeting is today!

A reminder, the WLUG Fixit Meeting is today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm fairly sure this will be the last workshop at this venue (as I was the last two times :) so we plan to make it a big one; Rod's listing it in whatsonhamilton and various other places, so please come along if you need help or if you're able to help others. And if you know anyone who might be interested in Linux bring them along too. Time: 10am to 4pm Location: IT Training and Language Centre 17 Devon Road. Yet the Web's future is darkened by severe security threats and competition from technologies that seek to replace the Web as we know it. As a contributor to Firefox, I will discuss challenges facing our project: competition from Internet Explorer and other browsers; changes to fundamental assumptions about code-level security vulnerabilities; sustaining and evolving a complex and fragile codebase; and the successes and failures of our tools and processes. Saturday Workshop

The next WLUG workshop is on Saturday 4th August at the IT Training Centre 17 Devon Road, Frankton form 10 am to 4pm. Don't miss this chance to encourage anyone who is interested in Linux to see it in action. If they like what they see we can help them install Linux and get them off to a flying start. If anyone needs help or wants to know how to make best use of their machine or sort any problems come and bring your machine. Or just come and help others.
