HP Shows Off Power Over Ethernet Thin Client

Drawing only 13W is pretty cool: "HP has unveiled an all-in-one thin client capable of being powered by an Ethernet cable. The t410 AiO supports the Type 1 Power over Ethernet (PoE) standard, which means it is capable of drawing its power from a network connection, although it can be powered by standard AC power. OK Creating Wallpaper slide show, ...but a bit different with Ubunt 11.10

Peter: Thanks for the pointer to creating wallpaper slide-shows. I didn't give the GUI application approach using "crebs" (create background slideshow) a try. I opted for the text editing and creation of a .xml file. I found the background slide show worked fine with Ubuntu 11.04. However there are changes with Ubuntu 11.10. The following posting does a good job of telling you how to get a background slide show running on 11.10... http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1881394 ...the approach now seems to be that you edit and append to... /usr/share/gnome-background-properties/ubuntu-wallpapers.xml ...With 12.04 not far away, I think I'll wait and see what it takes to get a slide show working on that release. cheers, Ian.

Looks like the Raspberry Pi is gaining traction: "Oracle seem to be concerned that the Raspberry Pi manages to run Java properly and they are actively working on the problem. To prove that it more than just works, what better than to get a JavaFX app up and running — what could be more cutting edge? Unfortunately the trick was performed using a commercial version of the JDK with JIT support and some private code, but it is still early days yet.
