Personalising Learning Environments with Quick Response (QR) Codes

Hi, There will be an interesting meeting next month presented by NZCS, Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7pm, 10th November. WLUG members are invited to attend: http://www.nzcs.org.nz/events/waikato_bop/87-Personalising_Learning_Environ… It's a free event but please register. I originally approached Dr. John Clayton to give a talk to WLUG about the work he's done with Moodle in the past. I also asked if I could interview him for community radio, which we did last week. In the course of the interview, he told me his new work involves researching QR Codes in education, and we thought that might be an interesting topic for a presentation. Since we are having an AGM next month and it was too late to organize it this month, I pitched the talk over to David at NZCS and he's organized that now. Dear All we have a test mail server for QA team. we use this for internal purpose and it does not send any email to outside world. but now want to do the below things 1. We require a default forwarding of domain *(a)bugtest.abc.local mapped to email_id emailsuite(a)bugtest.abc.local - So from now on all the mails sent to any unknown address *(a)bugtest.abc.local will be sent to emailsuite(a)bugtest.abc.local 2. A script to cleanup emailsuite(a)bugtest.abc.local emails on every 5 hours interval so that we don’t run out of space. >> 3. NEW ZEALAND PYTHON USER GROUP Media Statement October 5, 2009 IMMEDIATE RELEASE "How a programming language is changing the Web" The main keynote speaker at Kiwi PyCon 2009, Joel Burton, an internationally recognised trainer and presenter, will explain how the programming language Python is becoming the language of choice for developing websites due to its simplicity and flexibility. The conference will be held at the Canterbury Innovation Incubator in Christchurch on November 7th and 8th. Other tracks at the conference will include: GUI, Science & Math, Game, and Applications. GUI frontend for pypdf

Hi there A couple of weeks ago, I needed to join two PDFs together into a single one on my Ubuntu box. Problem was, that I could only find command-line tools like pdftk to do the job, but no GUI frontend like pdftk_builder or guipdftk, which are only available for Windows. When I happened to come across the pypdf Python library (http://pybrary.net/pyPdf/) I told myself, maybe a little bit of Python-hacking could fill the void. Well, there you have it... pyPdf-GUI, a little pygtk and glade based Python frontend, released under the BSD license. And, since I thought this software might be useful to other people as well, you can find it here available for download: http://pypdfgui.fracpete.de/ On that (rather basic) website, you can download an Ubuntu 9.04 .deb package and a source archive (for other Linux flavors or older Ubuntu versions). wlug server status

To anyone using the WLUG server, Hoiho the blade hosting the home directory for user accounts, has a failing hard drive. Please don't keep any important data here, and if you do have something there now, this would be a good time to back it up. Today I was informed there is only about 600 MB of space left there. Most of the space is taken by some database backups, and I don't really see the point in removing them, when no one should be using this drive anyway. We have a replacement blade for hoiho installed which has a larger drive, but it's not plugged into the right port on the switch or something. Someone has to go to the datacenter to sort it out. Hopefully this month we will get someone up there, but we can't guarantee the drive won't fail before then. Just an FYI we are having an AGM 23rd Nov., and we will be proposing to add a sysadmin role in Rule 7 of the charter.
