Hi all Came across the nifty SqueezeCenter today: http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_features.html It's a perl-based, open-source, mp3-streaming server with a really cool web-interface. Installation is fairly simple, if you're running Ubuntu (or any debian-based distro): http://wiki.slimdevices.com/?DebianPackage It basically involves the following steps: - add the following line to your apt sources list ("sudo vi /etc/apt/sources.list"): deb http://debian.slimdevices.com unstable main - update the cache sudo apt-get update - and install the center sudo apt-get install squeezecenter A minimal setup after installation finishes is just providing the top-most directory of your MP3 collection. Just point your browser to the center's address (http://A.B.C.D:9000/) and click your way through the wizard (no need for registration or those little SqueezeBox players). After the initial setup and the collection scan has finished, just point any MP3 player that can handle URLs, like Rhythmbox, to the server's streaming URL (http://A.B.C.D:9000/stream.mp3) select your machine as "player" in the web interface and just add songs to your playlist, play/pause/stop streaming, etc. That is the killer-app for my home-network that I was looking for for ages, providing an easy to use web-interface for streaming my MP3s over WLAN! The cool thing is, that each machine connecting to the center maintains its own playlist. Hi Guys, I've had contact with Simon Spence from Solarix who is really keen to hear back if there is anyone who could work on an exciting project involving Asterisk. This sounds like quite an exciting job opportunity and the prospective employer sounds very flexible with the work arrangements (totally flexible hours). Not sure if it is entirely relevant, but maybe these could help: keywords to look/search for are 'PPP _and_ stupid mode'... I set one up for a friend last year with KOL. I seem to remember that you needed to use Gnomeppp, The other dialers would not connect. and yes, go to setup, options and tick the box "ignore terminal string" (stupid mode) I have an idea their was something else I did but I can't remember at the moment. Kppp and WVdial couldn't be set to ignore init strings. David

The Society has been working with Standards NZ (SNZ) on their OOXML Advisory Committee for some time. The results of the petition may serve to support the Society's advice to Standards NZ. The Society's advice is that they not amend their earlier decision to vote against OOXML's adoption by ISO as an international standard. Standards NZ have until the end of March to determine their final vote on behalf of New Zealand. Information provided in the petition will not be made public, but we may share it with SNZ only.
