Full partition. Any ideas?

Hi all I have a friend with a problem. His Ubuntu system (2.26.32-x) won't boot. Booted from CD. Gparted showed partition partition size (ext3/ext4) is 120GB and 100% full. Disk analyser only shows 20GB in files (though 120GB on partition). Robbed 2GB from swap file to add to partition, but partition still shows 0% free. Can read files in the partition, but have no idea where that 100GB has gone. Since disk has another unused partition, plan of attack at the moment is to install 10.10 in the unused partition and recover data as needed. Anyone else seen this problem before? Any suggestions? Michael

Network set up

Hi I wonder if anyone could help me with suggestions for software and configeration for the following hardware network set up :- wifi link to isp via router(A). Local ip allocation by router(A) (say 192.168.2.3 ... but could be different depending upon state of router and other connections to it.) Wifi network card(A) in relatively low spec pc (B)... ideally 256-512 M memory ... x86 ... cd live or flash drive boot ... hopefully also sans monitor and keyboard and supporting web based interface for set up from local network administered by C (below) Ether Net card in same pc(B) connects to a separate wifi router(C) .. which sees this link as its route to the intenet/isp and accepts ip allocation from B .. Router(C) allocates local ip numbers on another domain (say 10.1.1.1-256) Router C supports both wifi and ehternet connections. I suppose B is a sort of router .. except that it is working in reverse to the normal expectation? Suggestons for live cd or flash distributions that might suit B appreciated .. as would commnets on how to set up router C Thanks -- Stephen Pearce Critical Care Whangarei ph 021 390 997

Debian "Squeeze" Pizza Party! On February 6th, 2011 after 2 years of development effort a new stable version of the Debian GNU/Linux OS was released. Those of you who know, know this is a reason to celebrate. Those of you who would like to learn more about why this is a momentous occasion should come along and check out what the new 6.0 version codenamed "Squeeze" has to offer. There are a heap of new features and interesting aspects to this release, a demo of how easy it is to install and use, and a presentation/overview of the Debian Project will be presented. Knoppix 6.4

Hi, guis, As a newbe-to-nominal Linux user am delighted by (live) Knoppix 6.4: it sees Windows' FAT32 partitions by a mere click on its interface and can save files on C:\ without any fuss. Connecting to Broadband is automatic; as fast as in Windows or faster. Such connection seems to mean avoiding known Windows' prerogatives (plus unknown ones) and it may also be possible skirting Windows by saving files of a dedicated DOS partition. Ditar.

Thursday Night Christmas Curry

We're looking to start running Hamilton curry nights again. The recent Christmas Curry had a good number of registrations. It was there that a suggestion was made there to reinstate the Hamilton Thursday Night Curry. If you are interested in attending (even irregularly) please let me know you intention, and whether you prefer weekly, fortnightly, or monthly. fiber attached storage

Hi. I have 3 servers , and 4 fiber cards (2 of infineon with intel chip, and 2 with qlogic chip ) . So what I want to have one server as storage and 2 running esxi, booting over the fiber, off the storage server. I'm looking for a Howto on setting up a storage server that presents storage over fiber. I have worked with Xiotech fiber storage devices, from an administration of resources, so my knowledge of fibre technology is limited. But this is a home project build on donated hardware, so I need to build my own fiber storage server .. I have googled and yet to find a clear howto on this...
