Hi everyone We've upgraded the version of elgg, powering the social networking part of wlug's website, from 1.7 to 1.8 over the last few weeks. Since the old version was hammered by spammers, we decided to take a clean slate approach and migrate only "actual" content manually. The new version has a number of anti-spam measurements in place. So hopefully we don't seem the same problem again. The upgrade means that you'll have to create a new user account, unfortunately. "The latest Webconverger 15 release is the first Linux distribution to be automagically updatable from a Github repository. The chroot of the OS is kept natively in git's format and fuse mounted with git-fs. Webconverger fulfills the Web kiosk use case, using Firefox and competes indirectly with Google Chrome OS. There is a Waikato Linux Users Group meeting tomorrow: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Meet up at the university, usual meeting room for Monday meetings: MS4.G.02 Time: 10am to 4pm Agenda: If you have a Linux problem or question bring along your machine and hopefully we will be able to help you. We'll have internet access (48Mbit/s). Entry is free for visitors and club members. However, if you, as a visitor, wish to connect your computer to the internet for more than a few minutes, a fee of $4 dollars to cover internet costs would be appreciated. We will accept membership applications on the day ($20). There are no kitchen facilities within the room. Toilets will be available around the campus, a couple of bakeries not far from campus.
