Hello All, Here is some more information from Greg's note at last Friday's presentation. I'd also like to thank Greg for volunteering to talk and for such a well presented and technical topic. Seeing the data miner in action was also a bonus. Attached is the email that Greg sent to Bruce and myself earlier this week. It seems as though there is plenty more reading on the topic. Bitcoin open source s/ware project.

monitoring network traffic (monthly)

Hi there Since the question came up at yesterday's WLUG meeting, of how to monitor internet traffic, especially over a whole month to track data usage on limited plans (eg 3G). Hi All. Just a quick note. Yesterday I bought the above (netbook/6-cell battery/ext. charger) from Noel Leeming at The Base in Hamilton for $379 ALL UP. They tried to push a $99 warranty (Consumer Guarantees Act does this so waste of $$), and MS Word/etc as well hehe. Cheapest I could find this on the ´Net was $430. Brief specs: Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz Dual-Core 1GB DDR3? RAM - Max 2GB. ~250GB SATA HDD NM10 Express Chipset Webcam Sound Bluetooth 802.11b/g/n Wireless Grabbed Kubuntu Netbook iso, created usb boot drive, blew away Win7 Starter, installed fine, sound and wireless appear to work out of the box (no drivers D/L´ed) - can see several other wireless APś in network scan so I´m guessing that means itś working. Bluetooth seems to be working (can see other devices). Not sure when sale ends, so if interested be in quick. Noel Leeming is very close to Dick Smith at The Base. hope this helps someone.
