Folks, The meeting next week is now on Wednesday due to Murray's other commitments. It will probably be in the usual room - if not I'll send another email to confirm. Ubuntu validates as Genuine Windows

A Xubuntu user ran IE4 under WINE and tried to download an App that required WGA authentication.... I've decided to build a new KiaoraCD in time for SFD. I'm working on updating all the software and designing a better website at the moment, and I'd really appreciate someone helping me with the CD browser and testing everything on 'the target operating system' ..I _was_ going to let this project die quietly, but it seems it just won't go away :(

WLUG Fixit Meeting is today!

A reminder, the WLUG Fixit Meeting is today. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- After much procrastination we've finally restarted the http://www.wlug.org.nz/SaturdayWorkshops. The first one for 2007 is on June 9th. Future workshops will be on the first Saturday of the month. Time: 10am to 2pm Location: IT Training building, 17 Devon Road. (http://zoomin.co.nz/?search/address/17+devon+road%2C+hamilton) The room has plenty of benches, power and network sockets. We'll also provide tea and coffee. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Rod (http://www.wlug.org.nz/RodAldridge) or Bruce (http://zcat.geek.nz/) Requests For Help: ElroyLiddington - would like assistance with Ubuntu 6.06 LTS? KDE setup - currently using Gnome, but prefer KDE WM, but having issues getting task-bar-applets-installed/PPP-working. Not important, but maybe: help with lmsensors/SMARTD setup if available :-) and setting up pppd bandwidth throttling for say http/ftp downloads etc, so when requesting a webpage, downloads get throttled until request has completed?

The next WLUG Workshop is at 17 Devon Road, Frankton on Saturday 9th starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm. A donation is asked for to cover costs and lunch (just something basic unless you bring your own). Now is your chance to encourage anyone who is interested or needs help to bring along their machine and get it sorted. Helpers are specially welcome. Roderick
