Hello! Anyone got advice on the best Linux pda? looked at the yoper .. but it has an internal battery and not that much support and looks a bit mechanically delicate ... zaureus looks nice but has many incantations .. iPAQ is another option .. but pricey ... I'm looking for best price performance .. any advice apreciated .. there seems to be endless choises Thanks Stephen

Warning: Mandrake 9.2 and LG CD-ROM Drives

Do not install Mandrake 9.2 on LG based CD-ROM drives. Many people have reported that their CD drives are fried/broken when installing Mandrake 9.2. LG drives are common on Dell PCs. I have a couple - Maybe of these, They are being given a quick test today, but I no longer have any cards for these, so they are heading to a bin. If anyone wants one ( there is a paper white one there, I think) let me know, and I'll bring them to the lug meeting tonight. Free to a good home, or in the skip tomorrow. Fine for that old server.

Re: "Too many open files" error

I have made some progress on this problem. I upgraded my Sun JVM from 1.3.1_08 to 1.4.2_01 and the problem has very significantly improved, not gone completely though. In due course I think I need to check out the number of objects created by my application as it may be excessive. Thanks again for all the help Roger
